Martinez Chicago Show at Green Home
On September 5, Wence and Sandra make their Chicago debut at the Green Home Chicago Design Center in the West Loop. Their weavings and works on paper will be on display through October, with select works remaining through the winter.
The show will feature a raffle, with prizes including one of Wence and Sandra’s works, as well as a piece of furniture donated by Green Home Chicago. Proceeds will benefit youth arts programs at the National Museum of Mexican Art, who recently accepted a promised gift of a Martinez piece from a collector. “I developed my skills and tenacity through a scholarship given to me to study in Mexico City,” says Wence, “and Sandra benefited from youth programming at the Milwaukee Art Museum, so giving back to such a program is a natural fit for us.”
Green Home Chicago founder Karen Kalmek is excited to introduce Chicago to Martinez Studio. “The aesthetic and quality of Wence and Sandra’s hand-made works are exceptional,” she says, “and they are a perfect fit with our specific vision.”
The opening reception runs from 5-9 pm, and coincides with Gallery Night in Chicago. “This is a wonderful way for our Chicago collectors to introduce their friends to our work,” says Sandra. “We can’t wait to see old friends and meet new ones on opening night!”
